The QTSA 25th Anniversary Annual Dinner cum 2019 Quality Tourism Services (QTS) Merchant & Service Staff Awards Presentation Ceremony took place on 16 May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre Convention Hall. We were delighted to have The Hon Matthew CHEUNG Kin-chung, GBM, GBS, JP, Acting Chief Executive as our Guest of Honour; Dr Y. K. Pang, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board; Dr Bernard Chan, JP, Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Joe Wong, JP, Commissioner for Tourism, Mr Zhang Qiang, Deputy Director-General, Coordination Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR and Mr Chen Xubin, Deputy Director-General, Hong Kong Island Sub-office of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, as our officiating guests.

Mr Ken Chan kicked off the evening with his welcome speech, followed by remarks from Dr Y. K. Pang, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board and The Hon Matthew CHEUNG Kin-chung, GBM, GBS, JP, Acting Chief Executive. Afterwards, the officiating guests made a toast to members to congratulate the 25th anniversary of the QTSA and the 20th anniversary of the Quality Tourism Service (QTS) Scheme. In addition to several stage performances by popular artists as well as a lucky draw, the QTSA also aired the 20th anniversary celebration video of the Quality Tourism Service (QTS) Scheme and also arranged a flash mob dance performed by the merchant staff who made the final of the "Service Staff Award 2019".

The Hong Kong Tourism Board presented the "Outstanding QTS Merchant Award (Merit)" and "QTS Merchants of 10&15-year Accreditation" Award during the cocktail reception. The "Outstanding QTS Merchant & Service Staff Award" were likewise presented that evening.

QTSA 24th Annual Dinner cum Governing Council Inauguration and Long-term Accredited QTS Merchants Recognition Ceremony

QTSA 24th Annual Dinner cum Governing Council Inauguration and Long-term Accredited QTS Merchants Recognition Ceremony took place on 8 May at the Ballroom of the JW Marriott Hotel. We were pleased to have Mr Edward Yau, GBS, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development; Dr Perter Lam, GBS, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board; Mr Liu Lin, Director of New Territories Sub-Office, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR; Mr Zhang Qiang, Deputy Director of the General Coordination Department, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR and Mr Joe Wong, JP, Commissioner for Tourism, as our officiating guests.

 

Mr Ken Chan Wing On's welcome speech kicked off the evening, followed by remarks by Dr Peter Lam, GBS, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board and Mr Mr Edward Yau, GBS, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development. A simple celebration ceremony was led by Mr Winston Chow and Mr Calvin Chan, Vice-chairman of QTSA. Stage performances, including musical numbers by popular artists, as well as a lucky draw were held during the dinner.

 

With "Passion" as this year's theme, the QTSA organised a "Best Dress Award", with two winners receiving the award from Mrs Selina Chow, GBS, OBE, JP and Deputy to the National People's Congress, China Mr Tommy Li, BBS, MH, JP. Winners of the "Service Staff Award 2017" with their director were invited onstage to encourage others to compete for the "Service Staff Award" in the coming year. The Hong Kong Tourism Board recognised the past efforts of quality merchants and their employees with the "QTS Merchants of 10- &15-year Accreditation" Award.

The 23rd QTSA Anniversary Annual Dinner cum 2017 Quality Tourism Services Merchant & Services Staff Awards Presentation Ceremony took place on 9 May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre Convention Hall. We were pleased to have Mr Gregory So, GBS, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development and Miss Cathy Chu, JP, Commissioner for Tourism, as our officiating guests and Mr Shen Chong, Director General, Coordination Department, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR as Special Honourable Guest.

The evening started with Dr Simon Kwok, BBS, JP's welcome speech, followed by speeches by Mr Anthony Lau, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board and Mr Gregory So, GBS, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development. A simple celebration ceremony was led by Mr Winston Chow and Mr Ken Chan, Vice-chairman of QTSA. A series of stage performances including musical numbers by popular artists as well as a lucky draw were organised during the dinner. Thanks to the generosity of the sponsors, every guest received a table prize.

QTSA 22nd Annual Dinner cum Governing Council Inauguration and Long-term Accredited QTS Merchants Recognition Ceremony

The 22nd QTSA Annual Dinner cum Governing Council Inauguration and Long-term Accredited QTS Merchants Recognition Ceremony was held on 6 May 2016 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre Convention Hall. We were honoured that the Chief Executive of The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, The Honorable C Y Leung, was the guest host of the ceremony. Other honoured guests included Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Mr. Grodfrey Leung King-kwok, JP and Miss Cathy Chu Man-ling, JP, Commissioner for Tourism.

The Honorable C Y Leung delivered a speech to voice his long and continued support for Hong Kong's tourism industry. The Governing Council Inauguration Ceremony was held at the Annual Dinner to mark a new era of the Council, we were honoured that The Honorable C Y Leung presented the Certificate of Appointment to Dr. Simon Kwok Siu-ming, BBS, JP who was reappointed as Chairman of the QTSA.
 

Established by the Hong Kong Tourism Board this year, the "15-year QTS Merchant Recognition" is an acknowledgement of the continuous effort to improve quality services demonstrated by accredited merchants. The second batch of merchants that recently reached 15 and 10 years of uninterrupted accreditation received their honours at the Annual Dinner.

The 21st QTSA Anniversary Annual Dinner cum 2015 Quality Tourism Services Merchant & Services Staff Awards Presentation Ceremony took place on 4 May 2015 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre Convention Hall. We were pleased to have Mr John Tsang, GBM, JP, The Financial Secretary, Mr Gregory So, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Shen Chong, Director General, Coordination Department, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, Mr Philip Yung, JP, Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Commerce, Industry and Tourism), and Miss Cathy Chu, JP, Commissioner for Tourism as our officiating guests. 

The QTSA presented a souvenir to the sponsors. A series of stage shows including magic and musical performances by popular artists as well as a lucky draw, all of the participants enjoyed a great evening.

For the third time since 2011 the Hong Kong Tourism Board presented the "QTS Merchants of 10-year Accreditation" Award and the "Outstanding QTS Merchant Award (Merit)". Furthermore, the HKTB also presented the "Outstanding QTS Merchant & Service Staff Awards" to the supervisory staff and frontline staff winners..

  
QTSA 2014 Annual Dinner cum Governing Council Inauguration Ceremony

The QTSA 2014 Annual Dinner cum Governing Council Inauguration Ceremony took place on 5 May 2014 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre Convention Hall. The Annual Dinner was well attended by hundreds of guests, members and business elites.

The Governing Council Inauguration Ceremony was held at the Annual Dinner to mark the new era of the Council. Ms YIN Xiaojing, Deputy Director, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, Mr Gregory SO Kam-leung, GBS, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development and Mr Philip YUNG Wai-hung, JP, Commissioner for Tourism, Tourism Commission were invited to be the officiating guests and  present the certificates of appointment to the Governing Council Advisers and Members.

That night was also the QTSA's "2014 Most Popular QTS Merchant Award (Online Voting)" award ceremony. All the winners have achieved a significant improvement with the level of quality service they provide. This award is in recognition of their excellent standard of service that has been well recognised by the public (Full story on page 5). The "10-year QTS Merchant Recognition" Award established by the HKTB is an acknowledgement of the continuous effort made by accredited merchants to improve their quality services. The second batch of merchants to reach 10 uninterrupted years of accreditation received their award at this year's Annual Dinner.

The programme-packed Annual Dinner featured musical performances by popular artist Mr Alfred Hui. Thanks to the generosity of the sponsors, everyone received a magnificent table prize and over 40 delighted guests won luxury prizes in the lucky draw at the finale. It was a truly special evening for all present and the Annual Dinner concluded with a celebratory atmosphere

     
2013 Quality Tourism Services Scheme Road Show

The Quality Tourism Services Association has been promoting the Quality Tourism Services (QTS) Scheme extensively. The QTS Scheme Road Show at Times Square, Causeway Bay in 2012 was a great success and attracted over 60,000 locals and visitors. In view of this, the QTSA and Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) co-organised for the 2nd time a nine-day Road Show at Tsim Sha Tsui Harbour City from 16 to 24 February 2013. With exciting programmes and exhibitions, visitors and locals were able to gain a better understanding of the QTS Scheme and experience the excellent services provided by the accredited merchants.

QTSA 2012 Annual Dinner cum Governing Council Inauguration Ceremony

The QTSA 2012 Annual Dinner cum Governing Council Inauguration Ceremony took place on 13 June 2012 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre Convention Hall. The Annual Dinner was well attended by hundreds of guests, members and business elites.

The Governing Council Inauguration Ceremony was held at the Annual Dinner to mark the new era of the Council. Mr James Tien, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board; Mr Philip Yung, JP, Commissioner for Tourism; and Mr. Guo Hengbin, Director-General, Coordination Department, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, were invited to be the officiating guests and to present the certificates of appointment to the Governing Council Advisers and Members. Governing Council Adviser Prof. Andrew Chan, SBS, JP and Appointed Member Mr Winston Chow were the recipients of the Special Contribution Awards honouring their enormous contribution to the QTSA training programmes.

The second batch of merchants that recently reached 10 uninterrupted years of accreditation received their honours at the Annual Dinner this year. Furthermore, the trophies for the "2012 Most Popular QTS Merchant (Online Voting)" were presented to the 10 winning shops and restaurants.

The Annual Dinner sponsors orchestrated a rich variety of performances comprising of drama, dancing and a catwalk show to showcase the dazzling allure of their products. The banquet burst into golden tunes when Hall of Fame Cantopop singer Elisa Chan made a surprise appearance. The evening reached boiling point during the lucky draw at the finale with luxurious prizes up for grabs. It was the perfect end to the Annual Dinner full of laughter and happiness.

           
Quality Tourism Services Scheme Road Show

Promoting the Quality Tourism Services (QTS) Scheme to the masses has always been one of QTSA's key missions. From 16 to 19 February 2012, the QTSA and Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) co-organised the four-day Quality Tourism Services Scheme Road Show at Causeway Bay Times Square. Through exciting programmes and exhibitions, visitors and locals gained a better understanding of the QTS Scheme and experienced the excellent services provided by the accredited merchants.

The launch ceremony of the Road Show was performed by HKTB Chairman Mr James Tien, GBS, JP, Commissioner for Tourism Mr Philip Yung, JP, QTSA Chairman Mr Tommy Li, BBS, MH, JP, QTSA Vice-chairman Dr Simon Kwok, BBS, JP, QTS Sub-Committee Chairman and QTSA Advisor The Hon Vincent Fang, HKTB Executive Director Mr Anthony Lau and ambassador of the Road Show Ms Fala Chen.

To showcase the diversities of the thousand-strong QTS-accredited merchants, the four-day event featured a different theme each day, namely "Glamour & Prestige" (jewellery and watches), "Lifestyle" (dining, wine and custom tailors), "Healthy Living" (health products and Chinese herbal medicines) and "Trend Setter" (cosmetics and hair styling). On the last day, the audience and media were pleasantly surprised by the unveiling of award-winning Chinese actress Fan Bingbing’s wax figure. A rich collection of products by QTS-accredited merchants from different sectors were on display to demonstrate Hong Kong's dynamic shopping and dining experiences. Visitors could also obtain further information on the scheme and QTS-accredited merchants from our friendly staff or through the touch screen database at the information kiosk.
